Simple Ways to Stay Healthy

Here are some simple ways to stay healthy. These can be achieved every day, it’s that easy, so why not start today!

Walk
Did you know that walking 150 minutes a week has many health benefits? Here are just a few, walking strengthens your heart, bones and improves your overall fitness. There are many benefits of walking, it is a great way to clear your head, unwind or even come up with great ideas! Walking is the cheapest and easiest form of exercise you can do; you don’t even have to join the gym! You may think it is hard to fit 150 minutes of walking into your week so why not break it down into 22 minutes a day or 30 minutes 5 days a week. Rather than taking the elevator, why not walk up the stairs, or park your car further away from where you normally do, to increase the steps you take or better yet, buddy up and enjoy a walk with a loved one.

Drink Water
Water has endless benefits. It reduces headaches, clears your skin and even helps with weight loss by reducing your appetite? It is recommended that you drink 2 litres of water a day. Water is a necessity but yet a lot of people struggle to drink it so why is it so hard and how can this be made easier? I use the H2O Coach Water Bottle with time markings to remind me to get my water down during the day. It is a good size and easy to carry around, plus it is so cute (yes I love all things cute). If you struggle to drink water why not add lime, lemons or cucumbers to your water to make it more enjoyable to drink.

Eat Fruits
Fruits are very healthy and should be taken daily. Some great ways to eat fruits include in a fruit salad, smoothie or by adding them to your oats, cereal or beside your pancakes to make things more interesting. Fruits could be used to replace unhealthy snacks like bars of chocolate or packet of chips. Here are 3 tips to ensuring you eat your fruits. Have a fruit with your 3 meals for the day and as a snack between meals. Carry your fruits in your handbag, this way you are always sure to have your fruits on the go.

Take a Break
Did you know that breaks lead to more productivity, creativity and engagement? Yes! It is quite important to take a break every now and then. Working without breaks can leave you exhausted, depleted and even stressed. Our bodies need to take breaks, to refresh and recharge. Just a 20 minute stroll can help increase blood flow to the brain.

Positive confessions for the day
Wake up each morning and say something positive throughout the day. You might have heard it before, ‘be transformed by the renewing of your mind’. This is because the mind plays a powerful role in our lives. If you tell yourself, you can’t achieve a goal, you begin to doubt yourself, on the other hand, if you declare, ‘I can do this!’, then you set yourself up for success. You will definitely see a difference in the outcome of your activities and the way you feel.

Exercise
Yes, you might be thinking that walking was already mentioned but besides working it is important to find some sort of fitness or exercise routine that you do at least 20 minutes a day. This could include cardio, yoga, pilates or mixing things up with whatever you fancy. There are so many free resources out there so you don’t need to necessarily join a gym to get your fitness on.

Sleep
Let’s not forget the all important and yet underrated, sleep. After a hard day’s work, our body needs to rejuvenate, recharge and refresh in order to start again. It is recommended that people get at least 8 hours sleep a day. You might think wow, that’s a lot of sleep, but you will be surprised just how much a day’s work takes out of the human body. Bottom line it is important to get a good night’s rest to take on another day head on.
