How to Get Cash Back on Everyday Purchases with Ibotta

How to Get Cash Back on Everyday Purchases with Ibotta

If you do any sort of shopping from stocking up with household items at Costco, to grocery shopping at Wegmans to cloth shopping at Macy’s or getting bits and bobs from Amazon, whether it’s online or offline then this is for you. Would you like to get cash back for items you already shop for and from stores you already shop at? If your answer is yes, which I’m hoping it is, then let me introduce you to Ibotta. If you already use Ibotta, that’s nice – go on with your bad self getting that cash back!

For the sake of those who don’t know about Ibotta, it is a cash-back rewards app that’s entirely free to use and it’s as easy as that! Ibotta allows you to find offers on products and services which you can redeem for cash. There are over 300 retailers (I know right, that’s a lot of stores) that participate with Ibotta including Target, CVS, Olive Garden, Giant, Groupon there is definitely something for everyone!

For any app to work, it has to be easy to use, nobody wants anything that’s complicated. It also has to do what it says it will do, in this case, you want to get cash back and with Ibotta it really delivers on those two things – it’s easy to use and you get rewarded with real cash back. I do believe in being frugal, saving where and when you can, even if its a few bucks here and there and with Ibotta you can do just that.

How to Use Ibotta

  1. Find Offers: First things first, you need to download the app which you can do by clicking here. Anyone who uses my referral code xogvwge gets a $10 welcome bonus for signing up. Once you have downloaded the app remember to complete registration.
    • Next, select your favorite stores and shopping apps within Ibotta. Click on find offers and browse categories to view stores nearby or view all stores. It’s amazing what’s on Ibotta, they also have specialty stores like Groupon and Barnes & Noble.
    • On the Home page you can also view offers available as well as bonuses available or you can click on find offers to browse by category (like above), this way you can view all stores and search for even more offers.
    • Select the offers you are interested in from your favorite retailers in the Ibotta app. To add an offer, tick the button beside the item you are interested in. Sometimes you might need to complete short activities like watching a 10 sec video or answering a question.
    • Remember the more offers you add, the more cash back you can get!

  2. Go Shopping: Now it’s time to go shopping. Some offers are exclusive to certain stores while others can be redeemed at multiple retailers so double check before you go shopping.
  3. Redeem:
    • There are 3 ways you can redeem with Ibotta:
      1. Send Receipt: If you shop in store remember to keep your receipt as you will need it to redeem any offer. To redeem offers, take a picture of your receipt or scan the QR code (if you shop in certain stores like Walmart and Best Buy). If an offer you have selected doesn’t show up, Ibotta gives you the opportunity to add it before you submit your receipt. You may have to scan barcodes to redeem specific offers, if this is needed Ibotta will prompt you to do so. Once you are ready send your receipt and Ibotta will deposit your cash back within 48 hours (note some stores take longer).
      2. Link Loyalty Card: With some retailers you have to link your loyalty card or phone number before you go shopping or redeem offers. Ibotta will prompt you to do so if needed.
      3. Mobile Shopping: The mobile shopping retailers allow for in-app or app-to-app shopping, many retailers including Buy Buy Baby, Sephora and Walgreens have mobile app shopping options.
  4. Get Cash Back: With Ibotta you earn real cash back, not made up currencies you can only use in some store you never shop at.
    • There are two options for getting cash back:
      1. Get Cash Back via PayPal or venmo ($20 minimum) or
      2. Get Cash Back with a Gift Card, most require $20 minimum to withdraw but again there are so many options from real places people shop at including: Bath & Body Works, Kohl’s, The Home Depot and Starbucks.

The great thing about Ibotta is that you don’t have to spend more or do anything different from what you already do to get cash back. Ibotta is an easy way for anyone to make cash back, if I can do then so can you. Start earning cash back with Ibotta. Remember to use my referral code xogvwge in order to get a $10 welcome bonus. Once you have signed up with Ibotta let me know how you find it and if you are already using Ibotta feel free to share your experiences and comments! Happy Savings!

Apple Crumble in a Mug

Apple Crumble in a Mug

I love mug desserts not only are they quick and easy to make but they are the perfect size for indulgence yet with the much needed portion control (for people like me). This Apple Crumble is super easy to make and takes less than 10 minutes from start to finish, I kid you not. So here’s how I made it.

Ingredients
1 small apple
3 tbsp whole wheat flour or all purpose flour
2 tbsp vegan butter
2 tsp turbinado sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Method
In a bowl combine flour, vegan butter, turbinado sugar and cinnamon. Mix together with hands until it resembles crumbles. Set this aside.

Next peel and core the apple, dice into small cubes and place in a mug. Make sure the mug is big enough as you are going to add the crumble on top of this.

Lastly cover the apple in the mug with the crumble then microwave for 2 minutes. Allow this to cool down for a couple of minutes before digging in, you don’t want to burn your tongue 😀

Berry Cinnamon Oats

Berry Cinnamon Oats

A good breakfast can set your day off to the right start. Oats are one of the healthiest breakfast options available, not only are these whole grains packed with fiber and nutrients, but they are also low in calories, can lower cholesterol levels, reduce blood sugar levels, improve bowel movement and help you lose weight by making you feel fuller for longer. These are just a few of the benefits of oats.

Oats don’t have to be eaten plain, there are many ways to jazz up a traditional oatmeal porridge in minutes. Here’s one way to easily do so.

Ingredients
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup water (almond, coconut or other milk of preference)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt (optional)
1/4 cup blueberries
1 strawberry, sliced

Method
In a small saucepan, bring water or milk, cinnamon and salt to boil on high. Next add the oats and reduce the heat to medium. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally while cooking. Take the oats off the heat, cover the saucepan and allow the oats to rest for about 2 minutes, this is the perfect amount of time to get the fruits ready.

Rinse the fruits with water and dab dry. Next pick off the green top from the strawberry, cut off the head and slice (or chop, whatever your preference is). Pour the oats into a bowl, then add the blueberries and strawberries on top.

Enjoy your breakfast!

How To Start A Blog

How To Start A Blog

Thinking of starting a blog? That’s awesome! There are many ways to start a blog but with all the information online, it could easily get confusing and overwhelming. I will keep things simple and show you how to start your a blog in 5 easy steps and you don’t even need to have any technical experience.

1. Choose a Topic to Blog About
This topic will be what your blog will be about, the more specific the better. Niches then to do very well when it comes to blog. More so, it’s best to blog about something you are passionate about. For example, I am passionate about food and healthy living so my blog is about healthy recipes and developing a healthy lifestyle. Other blog niches include fashion, travel, make up, home, decor, motherhood and so on. There are a lot of things to write about, you just need to find your niche, the more unique the better, don’t limit yourself.

2. Choose a Platform
There are many platforms available to bloggers. Squarespace, Blogger, Wix, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are examples of some popular blogging platforms. If you are looking to make an income from blogging then I would recommend using WordPress.org. When I first started blogging, I used Blogger, I also tried WordPress.com. However with many free platforms like WordPress.com, you can’t run affiliate programs which therefore limits your income generation stream. WordPress.org is fantastic if you want to blog as a business. Since WordPress.org is a software and it requires a host. If you do decide to go with WordPress.org then you can set this up once you choose your host which is covered in the next step.

3. Find a Host
A host is where your website lives on the internet, where it is stored. It’s like a zip code that puts your blog on the online map. When you are deciding where to live, you want to go for a good and safe neighborhood, in the same way when you are deciding which company will host your blog, you want to go with a fast loading and reliable host. Before choosing who to host with I did a lot of research. I finally decided to go with Siteground as they came highly rated, had a low monthly fee and an amazing customer service team (I have emailed and spoken to their team over the phone and they are really patient and helpful). I chose their StartUp plan which allows you to host one website, you can always upgrade your plan in the future as your blog grows and you get more visitors.

4. Decide on a Blog (Domain) Name
Okay so now you know what you want to blog about, what platform you want to use and where you want to host your website. It’s time to choose a blog name also known as a domain name or your website url. You can go down the route of using a name that describes your blog, for example if your blog is about eating out on a budget, your blog name could be eatingoutforless or you could just use your own name which gives you room to expand in the future if you wish. Whatever route you take, make sure you double check that the name you choose is available (preferably on all or most online channels including social media) as you don’t want to have to use different names across the web, you want to be consistent. Namecheckr is a great way to do check if the name you want to use is available on different online channels. Once you decide on a name, you will need to register your blog name. At this point with Siteground, you also choose your plan and complete the set up process.

5. Design Your Blog
Time to get creative and have so fun. If you have decided to use WordPress.org as your blog platform, you can access WordPress themes from your Siteground admin panel.

When it comes to WordPress themes, you pretty much get what you pay for. While there are a lot of free themes you can pick from, if you want to really make your blog unique and stand out from the crowd then you will need to shop around for a premium theme. Here are some cool online stores I found while searching for a theme for my blog:

Creative Market Place: With over 3,500 WordPress themes to choose from, you will be spoilt for choose. Prices here are also affordable so you will find something no matter what your budget is.

StudioPress Themes for WordPress: If you are looking for a highly professional, clean and modern look for your blog then this is definitely the place to look.

Etsy: Yes, Esty! You will be amazed what you can find on Etsy including wordpress themes.

Most people/companies that sell premium WordPress themes provide tutorials on how to install and customise their themes and if you get stuck, they are usually there to help.

That’s it! Do let me know when you start your blog, I’m always excited to get connected with my fellow bloggers.

My Top 10 Baby Items

My Top 10 Baby Items

As a new mama or an expectant mom, it can be an endless search trying to decide on what to buy or not buy for your little one. Every baby is different, so while one mama might swear by an item, another might tell you it was a complete waste of time for them. Here is what worked for my baby and me as well as the reasons why we loved these items. This list was compiled with items used in the first 6 months my son was born. Hopefully this helps some other expectant moms or first time parents in making their decisions.

10. Munchkin STEP Diaper Pail

The Munchkin STEP Diaper Pail was voted 2017 Best Diaper Pail by The BUMP and it’s no wonder why!

  • The Arm & Hammer scented PUCK absorbs odors, masking the smell of stinking diapers and keeping your nursery smelling fresh.
  • The step stool and self sealing system is great and helps avoids making a mess, and yes, diaper changes can sometimes (ahem most times) get messy.
  • It holds a heck lot of diapers (up to 180 newborn diapers) so you don’t have to keep making trips to the trash.
  • Nice to know: for every pail purchased, Munchkin plants a tree.

9. 3 Sprout Storage Boxes

  • The 3 Sprout Storage Boxes are the perfect organizational tool for small spaces, at the same time they are decently sized for storing away items like toys, and fit into most cubby hole shelving units making it even easier to store away.
  • Visually appealing, these 3 Sprout Storage Boxes are so cute, they capture everyone’s attention and easily brighten up any room.
  • The storage boxes are very sturdy and reinforced with cardboard which allow them to stand even when empty.
  • Comes in over 10 colorful animal designs including a kangaroo, peacock and rhino, you will be spoilt for choice!

8. Owlet Smart Sock Baby Monitor

The Owlet Smart Sock Baby Monitor tracks your baby’s heart rate and oxygen levels while they are sleeping and alerts you through phone app notifications, sounds and lights if there are any abnormal readings.

  • Great for first time parents, helps sets your mind at ease for the first couple of months which is when baby is at a higher risk for SIDs.
  • Even better for parents of premature babies. Believe me, as a mother of a baby who came 7 weeks early, I know that it can be scary when you are finally given the green light to take your baby home from the NICU. Why is it scary? Well, at the NICU there are doctors and different machines constantly monitoring your baby and letting you know how they are doing. This technology in a sock eases parents with preemies into settling at home.
  • Grows with baby: it comes in 3 different washable sock sizes and can be used from 6lbs-25lbs, 0-18months.

7. Baby Bullet

If you are conscious about your health then I’m guessing you are even conscious about what your baby eats. While jar foods are convenient, the best way to know what your little one eats is by making it yourself. The Baby Bullet allows you to do just that!

  • Makes it sure easy to make homemade baby food within minutes.
  • Comes with batch trays and storage pods so you can make baby food in bulk to refrigerate or freeze.
  • The storage cups come with date dials which allow you to keep track of when food was made.

6. 360° Ergonomic Baby & Child Carrier by LILLEbaby

This LILLEbaby Carrier comes in handy for shopping days or on occasions when you are going to be walking for long lengths of time, like at the airport or when you go sight seeing. This was super and JT wants to see the world or my favorite use for this, when my little boy doesn’t want to nap and is obviously sleepy.

  • Perfect all year round, can be during all 4 season as it comes with a highly breathable material and allows you to regulate the temperature.
  • It has multiple straps which enables you to easily adjust the carrier to you and your baby’s frames.
  • Allows you to carry your baby in 6 different ways.
  • Grows with baby, from newborn to toddler stage (4lbs to 45lbs).
  • Oh and it comes in a lot of colors and designs, believe me your hardest choice will be which design to pick!

5. Warming Waterfall Bath

For a first time parent, bath time can be intimidating but it doesn’t have to be with this Summer Infant Warming Waterfall Bath.

  • The bath comes with a back rest which is perfect for extra support until baby learns to sit on their own.
  • The warming waterfall which can be turned on or off keeps baby’s back warm and also soothes them too (it made JT smile whenever we put it on).
  • The accessories are great: comes with a baby assist tray (removable) to keep bath time items like soap and sponges within easy reach. It also comes with a rinse cup and a large washcloth to prevent baby’s chest from chills.
  • Anything that grows with baby is a plus, you can use it from newborn stage to toddler stage.

4. Tiny Love Playmat

  • The Tiny Love Playmat has plenty of activity for the little one. It is very colorful and comes with different textures which captures little one’s attention for a long time.
  • Extra large and generous space for baby to play, crawl and develop motor skills (the color, mirror, pockets and textures makes baby want to explore).
  • Best of all this mat is washable, and believe me there will be many spit ups on this!

3. Jumperoo

  • The Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo is one of JT’s favorite baby items. With music, lights and sounds there is plenty of interactive activity to keep baby entertained for a long period of time so they don’t get bored.
  • The seat rotates 360 degrees so if baby can interact with the different toys or wants to turn in another direction.
  • Enhances motor skills and engages baby’s visual and auditory senses as well as hand-eye coordination.
  • Machine washable seat to clean up any mess ups.

2. Chicco Bravo Trio Travel System

The Chicco Bravo Trio Travel System comes with an infant car seat, base and stoller system, need I say more…

  • Quite sturdy and lighter than a lot of other travel systems.
  • Comes with an infant insert for tiny ones. My baby was in NICU and was just over 4lbs when he finally came home. The NICU nurses have to test that your baby is safe in the car seat and apparently not all car seats can support premature or smaller baby, this one did!
  • Grows with baby (score!), the KeyFit infant carrier holds infants from 4lbs to 30lbs. Once your baby outgrows the infant carrier seat travel mode, you can convert this to the perfect stroller for the toddler stage.
  • The stroller manoeuvres effortlessly with all wheel suspension that minimise the impact felt from bumpy strolls.
  • The system comes packed with features yet is so compact. There is plenty storage space under the stroller, it comes with both a parent tray (hold your coffee or tea, phone, chapstick etc.) and a snack tray for baby.  Oh it also comes with a canopy system with peek-a-boo window
  • The quick and self-standing compact fold is perfect for those who hate putting their strollers or items laying on the floor (need I say more).

1. Baby’s Bouncer by Fisher Price

The Fisher Price Bouncer is my top favorite item for some many reasons.

  • The first and most important reason is it allows you to do other things when baby is still little and needs to be carried.
  • It’s portable which means you can easily take it around with you to different parts of the house like when you need to have a shower and it’s only you and baby at home, and the baby is awake is you can’t leave them in the crib. Yes, this is great.
  • The bouncer helps put baby to sleep, I don’t know what it is but once my husband starts gently rocking the bouncer, JT falls asleep!
  • The activity bar encourages motor development. JT would often try to grab the toys on the bar and it was so cute to see him grow to finally being able to reach and spin the toys.
